GREAT CRUTECH

by Anametemfiok, Esther A.

Lying in the South of the city
It’s a wonder, how much you have grown
I could tell the world of this new bride
Her beauty is such to ponder

Once a fallen Rome, has risen to be great Britain
Her price is worth more than gold
Her virtues cannot be sold
Even if it grows old

Both the young and old appreciate your talents
Your wisdom has put the fools to bed
And your policies have made the bended
Hearts straight again

No one has entered into your chambers
And withheld to sing the song of greatness
You have made the prudent wise
And straightened the ways of those who ran wild.

I know that if you continue in this way
The world will turn to you for help in troubled days
Your name daily will ring a bell
And your works won’t cease to be hailed.

Oh Great CRUTECH!
I marvel at your strength
That surpasses those who stand against you
And raises those who fall from great heights.
