So...You're Stressed

Stress can overwhelm. But just as computers and viruses work hand in hand, that is exactly how students and stress should coexist, as this is somehow a good thing as it makes us develop a thick skin to face the real world especially the cold, harsh labor market. We all know what stress is and can easily tell when something is stressful … But what is this stress?

Simply, Stress is emotional and physical pressure that tends to traumatize us, make us worry and become unstable. That being said, stress is anything that discomforts our mental, physical and emotional peace. As humans, a lot of things we do attract stress to us. When our heart or mind is not at rest because of the insufficient support got from either our parents, guardians or friends. When the people we consider our backbone are not there to support us financially and in other aspects, this can emotionally drain us and give room to stress.

Life as a student in itself is a solid chain of stress! Attending classes and numerous assignments (and not just assignments but assignments that have deadlines!) and sleepless nights all ensure students have a constant dose of stress! Indeed, stress is what every university student can resonate with, from the time of getting the JAMB form to post-JAMB wahala and other dicey activities related to gaining admission into the university, to then getting admitted and needing to submit files in every corner of the vast university campus … all one long, marathon run of stress! Which ultimately leave medical effects on many students.

Stress has its own medical agents, according to Dr. U. J. Nduwudi “stress can cause mental disorder and it also cause testicle dysfunction”. When examined critically or after I carried out a painstaking research, I discovered that stress disorganized us mentally, physically and emotionally. Just like every problem has a solution so is also stress. We can elude stress if we empty our minds from also the frustration and issues bothering us, we can also take afternoon sister and create enough time to sleep no matter how cumbersome your workload is. In conclusion, stress is here to stay. Stress is part of our daily life. Stress is inescapable, but your ability to contain and master or manage this stress is what define you.
